Day 58- Physio twice per day

Today our OT has decided to start looking for equipment for us at home. We require a lift, bathroom reno and stair lift along with some smaller equipment. Life is certainly never dull. We found out Muscular Dystrophy Canada will cover $6000.00 of the stair lift so far.We still need a quote for renos and we should be trialling lifts soon.

In PT Owen is standing twice per day. The hope is he will get enough practice to do a standing transfer with assist at home. He stood without splints today for the first time in 2 months. Good job bud!

He attended school and then we headed out for our weekly mall walk with our awesome unit 201  friends! Owen got to use his EB Games gift card from Katelyn and Amtej! As usual a success and a blast! When we came back we relaxed and Owen proned before going to sleep!

Day 57- Happy Birthday

Owen was sad that nana and papa had to leave. He moped all the way to the city. But as soon as he got there he was greeted with many Happy Birthdays from friends and staff. He had fine motod group and stood 10 times with hell today...

We were sad we weren't with Brayden today. Christian, Amtej and Katelyn all gave him awesome gifts and cards. He also got to go to a new theater to see Hang Over 3 with Christian and his mom. When we got back they treated us to Ice Caps again. Whag a great bunch of friends.They made his day super special. Thanks everyone!

Day 54-56- Standing and Partying

Day 54 - Friday May 31,2013 was a day of partying. The kids made Owen an icecream cake for his birthday ( early) and Owen got an itunes card . He loved it. They also celebrated Katie and Victoria's last day... Happy and sad all at the same time.

Owen recieved his powerchair back and it grew! He loved it! He stood again today and was learning to find a balance point. He struggles a bit but eventually finds it.

He got another weekend pass to go home and this time Nana and Papa Walker were meeting us there. We even got home in time to take Brayden to a dance and a late supper with grandparents.

DAY 55- Papa and Dad worked at the shop. Mom and Nana helped and Owen hung out with Brayden fof a bit before comin to hang out. Supper was a YUMMY bbq and birthday cake for the boys and Timmo. Owen finally got his Wii U    and Brayden got his helmet cam...Brayden had no idea and was shocked! We closed the night playin games.

Day 56- We finished at the shop by 2pm then headed to Jasper. We had supper at Caruso's then went sight seeing. All together we saw 6 bears, a mountain goat, a white wolf, a bald eagle, elk, sheep and deer. Owen wants to see a Cougar. Off home and played games till bedtime. It was a great day.

Day 53 - Tired and Lazy day

Owen and mom were awakened very early this morning and as a result the day went as follows:
-mom and owen were tired all morning
-Tejinder made mom home made chai tea to cheer her up.
- Owens teacher requested owen not go to his second hour of school because he was too tired although Owen felt he was fine. He did not mind missing school though lol
- Owen cooked stir fry in cooking class and he cut all the meat and ate with chopsticks
- Owen got the watch the singing group Splash'n Boots at lunch from the International Childrens Festival.
- He rested on his tummy for an hour after lunch and had pool therapy while mom went shopping.
- More thunderstorms today
- Mom was back in time to shower Owen and relax. Amanda made mom spaghetti for supper with turkey meatballs ....YUM!
- Tejinder made more chai tea and we visited until 9:30pm.
- Amanda brought Owen and Christian dessert in bed, worms in dirt and ice caps as they requested! They watched tv, played with marios and did what boys do well past cerfew..

You will also note Owen finished more shrink art. Awesome

Day 52- Farewells and Fun

Today was Owen's friend Bella's going away party. In true Bella spirit there was cup cakes, presents and lots of fun...Mom is really gonna miss Bev. Glad to see Bella doing so well. Owen had fun watching Bella play Dance Revolution with her therapists and even wiggle danced on the proning table.

Owen did not have OT today. Our OT is new to us and is very busy so maybe tomorrow. We did enjoy the visit from Justin today. Owen misses him.

We had an awesome surprise visit from our neighbor Corinna today. Unfortunately it was chaos when she was here but we still got to visit a little.

In PT today Owen was able to stand for 10 seconds with no help and moved his right foot 10 steps with no splint or assistance. Very exciting.

Owen found out today that his roommate will be leaving the same day as him and he was SUPER happy. I think he has found a life long buddy in him.

Today was moms parent group so Owen hung out with the rec therapist. He likes all the activities they are doing including waiting for cocoons to turn into butterflies.

After parent group the same 4 families from last week headed back to the mall for some fun. Watching kids in wheelchairs have fun hiding in clothes racks was hillarious. We stayed out till the mall closed and then headed back for proning and bed.... Fun filled day.

Day 51- One Man Band

Owen was sick this morning and got to skip school! He didn't get up until noon! But that was just in time to see Dan The One Man Band!. Telus donated Cheatah Beanie Babies to all the kids!

He did however make it to PT where he got to try standing without a splint on one leg. He made it a few seconds which is really good.
He spent the rest of the afternoon playin on the wii and visiting with his roomie.

The evening was the same. Mom got to join in on the nail painting party then launched a tickle attack on Owen which he pretended to hate lol.

He closed the night off with Family Guy and Funniest Home Videos.

DAY 47-50: HOME PASS NUMBER 3

Owen finally let mom watch his physio. She uploaded the video to facebook. 60 more great steps.Owen spent his weekend helping mom and dad move dad's shop. He had lots of patience but enjoyed roast for supper.

He also spent some time with his bro and played some video games.He even got to gobto watch the boys at the bike park when the rain let up!

He got to go back late and returned to the hospital monday evening. He was quite sad and tearful about leaving home and went right into bed when he got back.
